Police Reform Websites

In the past weeks we have launched 3 new websites which will continue to be developed in collaboration with Blackstonian.com. These websites all focus on tracking police misconduct and instituting reforms to prevent discipline it. MassPoliceReform.org Mass Police Reform works to reform police practices to improve respect for basic human and civil rights, reforms should address concerns about policing, racial discrimination/profiling, diversity, excessive/deadly force and corruption. This site was a complete rebuild and rebrand and is part of a larger local campaign to unify efforts for police reform. ShotByPolice.Blackstonian.org Shot By Police Boston & Beyond seeks to provide as comprehensive as possible a database of people who have been Shot and Killed by Police in Boston and some surrounding communities. This site was a complete rebuild and rebrand completely representing the available data in a format consistent with and inspired by leading data collection projects like “The Counted”. PoliceDecirtification.us Police Decirtification (US) addresses the issue of police decertificaion at a national level. There are currently only 6 States without the authority to revoke a police officer’s license: California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. This site is still under development but seeks to provide a central resource for decertification advocates across the country.

Shootings Since the 2013 Boston Marathon

We have been working closely with Blackstonian.com to keep track of all shootings (fatal and non-fatal) that have occured in Boston since the 2013 Boston Marathon. With all the media attention and the outpouring of support for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings, we wanted to highlight the daily tragedies that are consistently ignored and whose victims receive nothing compared to the millions and millions raised in a matter of weeks for the One Fund. It started with a simple Graphic depicting the number of shootings in the style of a runners number. We have since developed an interactive Google map indicating where each shooting takes place, showing how they are primarily concentrated in the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan and the South End / Lower Roxbury. For the most recent count (as of this posting it stands at 85) and map check blackstonian.com.

Wise Intelligent .com

This project was a real honor for us. Wise Intelligent of the Legendary Hip-Hop group, Poor Righteous Teachers had us redo his website in preparation for the release of his latest album ‘El Negro Guerrero‘. We worked on rebuilding his site as a self hosted wordpress site with a sliders, a shop, blog, and archives of music and videos. One of the goals with this redesign was to make the site more mobile friendly as it previously was purely flash site. wiseintelligent.com

SPNDA x EvillDewer – The Jeffrey

4:20 marked the release of “The Jeffrey” a collaborative album between CCR and Scope Music fam SPNDA and EvillDewer. We were brought in from the beginning to design Single covers and then an alternate cover for a bootleg physicals we helped produce and print (Find more on that in the blog). “Bang Em in tha Head” was a staged photo, we carved the title and some hash marks and took pics of SPNDA with a rusty old knife – this idea plays with imagery from a video concept but since the video isnt out, thats all for now on that one. For “Nebraska” we grabbed a screenshot from youtube of the moment that inspired that title for the track and played with the visual language of youtube to work in other info like the title and artists. The official cover was designed by Sir Froderick and features sweet comic book-based collages. We just added text, logos and titles. We also worked on building a 1-page-website and tweaking the SPNDA’s bandcamp. We took different approaches to the single covers. thehologramwith2beardz.com Def buy or download a copy of the Jeffrey for yourself – its a great project. The Jeffrey by SPNDA x EvillDewer
